Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs)

Overview

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are temporary research visits to a host institution within the ConnectLAA network. They provide researchers with the opportunity to develop specialized skills, conduct joint research, and access resources not available at their home institutions.

Eligibility

STSMs are open to PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and senior scientists actively engaged in the ConnectLAA network. Applications are evaluated based on scientific merit, potential for collaboration, and relevance to network objectives.

Rationale

STSMs encourage hands-on collaboration and knowledge transfer, providing practical training in techniques, methodologies, and analytical approaches. By fostering mobility and international cooperation, these missions contribute to enhanced research capacity and cross-border scientific integration.

Implementation

Applicants must submit a proposal describing the research objectives, expected outcomes, duration of the visit, and the host institution. Grants cover travel and subsistence costs. STSMs often result in co-authored publications, joint projects, and lasting professional networks, thereby reinforcing the collaborative mission of ConnectLAA.
