ConnectLAA 2nd General Meeting Fosters Collaboration and Archival Innovation in Nitra
On 5–6 September 2025, the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra hosted the 2nd General Meeting of ConnectLAA, bringing together members of the COST Action to strengthen collaboration and advance landscape architecture (LA) archival practice across Europe. The meeting’s primary aim was to build a shared vision and facilitate intensive working sessions organized by the four working groups (WGs).
The first day featured plenary sessions with welcoming remarks from the host institution and the COST Action Chair, followed by presentations from STSM grantees. Parallel workshops allowed WG1 and WG2 to explore best practices for archive management, survey archival institutions, identify knowledge gaps, and examine the practical use of LA archives. A guided visit to the State Archive in Nitra provided participants with firsthand insight into archival processes and material handling, reinforcing discussions from the workshops.
On the second day, the World Café and joint WG workshops fostered cross-group collaboration, enabling participants to integrate ideas from archive management, research, education, and communication. WG3 focused on incorporating archives into teaching, while WG4 advanced dissemination strategies, including curated online exhibitions, multilingual archival glossaries, and collaborative outreach. The meeting concluded with a plenary wrap-up, outlining next steps and reinforcing the Action’s collective vision.
Optional site visits to Nitra’s Plenary Hall and Botanical Garden offered additional context for landscape architecture heritage and educational practice, rounding off two days of intensive knowledge exchange and network-building.
